Addictions, Addictions, Addictions
I've got a lot of hobbies. I think I'm actually addicted to collecting things. There's something about hoarding objects that I find satisfying. With so many hobbies, it's hard to keep track of the various projects I want to do. There's LEGO to build, model kits to build, comic books to inventorize, trading cards to buy and sell. The list just keeps growing. This section of my webpage will showcase some of my hobbies and why I find them so interesting. Who knows? Maybe you'll find something here for you.
Comic Books
Comic books were never just for kids. It has been a hobby of mine since I was in junior high and I'm still going strong. I'll be posting my reviews on books, what's new and some of my favourite books in here. Just a place for the curious to look into the hobby.
Model Kits
When I was younger I loved building plastic model kits of airplanes, tanks and ships. When I grew older I found Bandai and Gundam. The quality of Japanese model kits far surpass those of their American counterparts. What could be better than a room full of Gundam and science fiction model kits?
Star Wars
The concept of Star Wars is just cool. A galaxy far, far, away. That is just awesome. I love the not-so-perfect universe that Lucas had originally created. It has expanded far beyond what George Lucas had intended and hundreds of creators have added something to the Star Wars Universe. It's this expanded universe that enthralls me.
Science Fiction & Fantasy
Star Wars was just the beginning of my interest into science fiction and fantasy. Lord of the Rings, The Wheel of Time, Starship Andromeda, Star Trek, Macross, and others have all really influenced my creativity and imagination. I love the epics, the concepts and the stories that each bring to the table.
Trading Cards and Gaming Cards
Trading cards was an extension of my comic book hobby but it eventually grew into something else. I love collecting and that's precisely what trading cards are for. Gaming cards also came out of another hobby, Star Wars, and it also grew into a hobby all unto itself.
Movies
I love watching movies. They don't have to have a good plot or good acting. Movies are there to entertain me. Sometimes I want a movie to make me laugh, or cry, or contemplate philosophical issues. It doesn't matter as long as I'm in the mood.
Television
To me, television is all about captivating the audience and making them want more. I love the suspense of waiting for next week's episode and I love the giant epic that many successful television shows are. I don't enjoy most of the shows out there today, but if you look hard enough, there are a few great gems.
