Hobbies - Star Wars

Hobbies >> Star Wars

Like millions of fans, the Star Wars universe fuelled my imagination during my youth. Planning inter-galactic battles, designing aliens and starships, and make those stupid sci-fi noises filled my days and nights. Star Wars was something that kids of all ages could enjoy. I still love Star Wars but I've narrowed my scope down to a few product lines in the massive brand that is now Star Wars. I usually do not collect any Prequel stuff and I stick primarily to the original trilogy and their related material.

Star Wars LEGO

Star Wars LEGO

When LEGO got the Star Wars license the first image that popped into my head was my legion of stormtrooper figures. I was a total geek then and I'm even geekier now. I now have over 50+ stormtrooper figures but I just want MORE! LEGO is an awesome toy and Star Wars LEGO is even better. With LEGO's UCS line of crazy LEGO model kits, they're appealing to all the little kids in each of us. Check out this section for a listing of all the Star Wars LEGO that has been released.

Star Wars Comic Books

Star Wars Comic Books

After the first trilogy was released, there wasn't much happening in the Star Wars Universe. The comic books from Marvel were okay but nothing spectacular. Then Dark Horse got the Star Wars license and they managed to create an exciting world after the first trilogy. Along with the books, creators have added to the Star Wars mythos and they have done it with tremendous success. It's a shame that I stopped collecting Star Wars because they started to concentrate on the New Republic stuff.

Star Wars Cards

Star Wars Cards

This section includes the popular gaming cards and the non-sports cards as well. I'm only putting what I have in my collection in here. There's lots of different sets and it's hard to keep track of everything. You would need a separate site to list them all. I collect a few of the non-sports series and I spent a boatload on Decipher's Star Wars CCG. One of the best gaming card series in my opinion. I still do not forgive Lucas for pulling the license from Decipher. It was an insult to all those who supported the game.

Star Wars Books

Star Wars Books

I think authors like Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole, and countless others saved Star Wars. Concentrating mainly on what happens to Star Wars after the first trilogy, there's enough material written to supply another dozen films. The introduction of Grand Admiral Thrawn, Mara Jade and the Solo children have been simply fantastic. The best thing Lucas did after Star Wars was to let others handle his legacy. His intended black and white version of the world simply lost its appeal as it was evident in the newer movies.
